Yes Keyboardist Can't Take "No" For An Answer?

Currently on tour to support their latest, very good album "The Ladder," English progressive-rock band Yes has a controversy on their hands that's more typical of a young punk band than an old workhorse like Yes. Specifically, current Yes keyboardist, Russian Igor Khoroshev, was hit with sexual assault charges against two female security guards during and after a show in the state of Virginia. According to the Washington Post, during a break Khoroshev sat on one guard's lap and attempted to put his tongue in her mouth, and upon being rebuffed, proceeded to sink his teeth into her neck. Still not satisfied after his keyboard noodlings were done, he allegedly approached another female guard after the show and made lewd comments, then fondled her buttocks. Khoroshev was charged and released on bond and had no comment, but faces up to $2000 dollars in fines and up to five years in jail.

Yes management released the following statement about the incident, "As the matter is currently under investigation, the members of Yes cannot comment on the allegations against side-musician Igor Khorshev. Any kind of violence or indiscretion against anyone will not be tolerated by the members of Yes." Since Khoroshev is supposedly a full-fledged member of the current Yes incarnation, having been given full writing and performing credits on their latest disc, one wonders why he was referred to as a "side-musician." Maybe Rick Wakeman and Tony Kaye should keep their calendars open?
