Yes men have all the right answers

By Kevin Hughes

Who says prog-rock is dead? Not one of the 3000 strong crowd who were wowed by the Yesymphonic tour.

The legendary group-singer Jon Anderson, guitarist Steve Howe, bass player Chris Squire and drummer Alan White-were augmented by a 20 piece orchestra from Belarus.

Their incredible contribution breathed new life into Yes' classic back catalogue.

They kicked off a near three hour long set with Close To The Edge then followed it with epic versions of Gates of Delirium and Ritual. Music from their latest album Magnification -- including new single Don't Go -- blended well with songs from the past.

But as ever it was frontman Anderson's soaring vocals which really caught the imagination. Over the years his voice seems to get stronger. He didn't miss a single note...remarkable when you consider Yes were 67 dates into a 70 gig world tour.

They closed with Starship Trooper, I've Seen All Good People and Roundabout. Yes may have shot to fame in the 1970's... but three decades on they're still a major music force.
