Yes Tour?

According to the official Yes website, the venerable band will be embarking on a "special" North American tour this summer. There's been no other official statement but most rumors have it that keyboard player Rick Wakeman and perhaps even guitarist Trevor Rabin will be joining Jon Anderson, Chris Squire, Steve Howe and Alan White for the forthcoming tour.

I know most of you are yawning about now because I'm talking about Yes, but let's face it, if you're anywhere near my age, 35, then whoever was/is in your favorite band is close to 50, or even 60, years old. How many more opportunities will you get to see them play live?

While some "old farts" hire young guns to cover up their declining skills or tour with only one or two longtime members, Yes has been playing better than ever over the last few years. Two summers ago they toured their "Masterworks" and played intricate, complex material not heard for 25 years ("Gates of Delirium") and last summer they toured with an orchestra to promote their latest album, "Magnification." Anderson can still hit the high notes, Squire remains a fantastic bass player, Howe is still an imaginative guitar player and White's still got the stamina required to play for over two hours.

So no matter who your favorite old bands are, get out there and support them whenever you can...pretty soon we're going to be left with nothing but clowns like Creed, Destiny's Child and whatever else the record companies decide they can shove down our throats.
