Unreleased tracks to surface on new Yes box

By JAM! Music

To coincide with the rejuvenated Yes's upcoming tour (with Rick Wakeman back in the lineup), Rhino/Atco Records is preparing a new box set spanning the group's career.

According to Yesworld.com, "In A Word: Yes (1969 - )" will be "the most definitive Yes retrospective ever produced."

The set will span three decades and includes 55 songs spread across five CDs. The music will cover the band's 1969 self-title debut on Atlantic Records through to 2001's "Magnification."

The site said the set will also feature six unreleased tracks: "Tango," "Never Done Before" and "Richard;" "Backing Track 2" (recorded in 1979 by guitarist Steve Howe, bassist Chris Squire and drummer Alan White); "Fist Of Fire" (alternate take from the Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe sessions), and "Last Train" ("Magnification" outtake).

The box, which is due in stores on July 16, will also include an 80-page book with essays from journalist Chris Welch and Yes expert Bill Martin, as well as tributes from "Almost Famous" director Cameron Crowe, Pearl Jam's Stone Gossard, Rush's Geddy Lee, and Phish's Jon Fishman.

"In A Word" will be augmented with rare photos and new package art by longtime Yes cover-artist Roger Dean.
