New Steve Howe Album

By Barry A. Jeckell

Yes guitarist Steve Howe has slated a Nov. 5 release for his eighth solo album, "Skyline," his first for InsideOut Music. The 12-track instrumental album -- which also features keyboardist/percussionist Paul Sutin, a longtime Howe collaborator -- is the follow-up to 2001's "Natural Timbre."

"I like to keep moving around and not stay in one sort of musical pattern," Howe said in a statement. "My last album was more acoustic-oriented and I felt I had exhausted that kind of playing for a time. 'Skyline' represents a more ambient, laid-back side of my playing and it allowed me to improvise in a different sort of way."

When "Skyline" is released, Howe will be in the midst of an 11-date North American Yes tour. That run will kick off Oct. 24 in Clearwater, Fla., and close with a pair of Nov. 8-9 shows just outside of Philadelphia at the Tower Theatre in Upper Darby, Pa
