Yes - Going For the One
Yes, the band that produced (then lost) Rick Wakeman, have reformed and are releasing their first album in three years. It's called "Going For the
One," and took eight months to record at the Mountain Studios in Montreaux, Switzerland, the classy skiing village where various movie stars and other
assorted rich types have their winter lodges.
The band, comprising Jon Anderson, Chris Squire, Steve Howe, Alan White and Rick Wakeman, and now holidaying in various parts of Britain and Europe.
The album contains only five tracks -- "Going For the One," "Turn of the Century," "Parallels," "Wondrous Stories," and "Awaken," indicating their
usual style of extended, quasi-orchestral arrangements based on the technical accomplishments of individual members. It will be their ninth
album.
The band is now planning a four-month trek through America, Britain and Europe. For this album, the delicate fantasy work of sleeve artist Roger
Dean, responsible for most Yes artwork in the past, has been replaced by the work of a group called Hipgnosis, best known for their surreal work for
Pink Floyd. Both bands have always been noted for their exceptional cover art,
which has often been made into posters that are much sought after.
