Yes at the MARS Music Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach

By Michael Hamersly

No one does prog-rock like Yes. Sure, '70s dinosaurs like King Crimson and Emerson, Lake and Palmer had their day, but neither group ever approached the songwriting genius of anthems like Starship Trooper, Roundabout, and Long Distance Runaround, which still find room on today's classic-rock air waves. And neither group is enjoying a renaissance of sorts, as the classically influenced pioneers of art-rock are today with Rhino Records' recent release of the five-CD compilation, In a Word: Yes (1969 - ). Simply put, Jon Anderson's inimitable childlike voice soaring over Chris Squire's bass grooves and Steve Howe's imaginative guitar created a sound like no other. And the boys are back together for a North American tour to support their critically acclaimed release of late last year, Magnification, a return to form.
