Yes Returns To North America

By Barry A. Jeckell

Veteran progressive rock outfit Yes will kick off a brief second North American touring leg Oct. 24 in Clearwater, Fla. The 11-date trek is concentrated on the eastern half of the country, wrapping with a pair of Nov. 8-9 shows just outside of Philadelphia at the Tower Theatre in Upper Darby, Pa.

As on its summer tour, the band's ever evolving lineup remains as what's described as the "classic five-piece" version of Yes: vocalist Jon Anderson, bassist Chris Squire, guitarist Steve Howe, drummer Alan White, and keyboardist Rick Wakeman, who recently returned to the fold.

"Touring with Rick [Wakeman] again has been a lot of fun for us," Squire said in a statement. "The band is playing better than ever, and the fans have really been responding well to the shows. We are really looking forward to the next leg of this tour, as we feel we're just getting started."

At deadline, the band's official YesWorld.com Web site had pre-sale ticket information for most of the dates on the tour. Several of the shows will go on sale to the public this weekend, while others will be up for grabs in a week or so. In addition, WindowsMedia.com will also supply pre-sale information, as well as rare Yes audio and video.

The band is touring in support of the recently released five-disc Rhino set "In a Word: Yes (1969- )," a 55-track retrospective spanning more than three decades of music. The group also recently released "Yessymphonic Live," a home video of an Amsterdam concert from a 2001 tour. Yes is accompanied by a full symphony orchestra as it performs such classics as "Close to the Edge," "Roundabout," and "I've Seen All Good People."
