Wakeman says 'Yes' to Reunion Tour
By Carl Palmer
The 35th anniversary tour of supergroup Yes rolls into town this weekend -
with returning band member Rick Wakeman joining the celebrations.
Dubbed the Yes Full Circle Tour, fans finally get what they've been waiting
for with Wakeman joining vocalist Jon Anderson, bassist Chris Squire,
guitarist Steve Howe, and drummer Alan White - to become what most of their
supporters consider the classic Yes line-up.
At the beginning of the Eighties Yes underwent a crisis. Jon Anderson and
Rick Wakeman left to pursue solo projects and were replaced by Trevor Horn
(vocals) and Geoff Downes (keyboards).
The 'new' Yes unveiled an aptly titled album called, Drama in 1980, which
contained some unexpectedly powerful work, notably, Machine Messiah.
With Jon Anderson back as lead vocalist and Tony Kaye recruited on
keyboards the band's future was starting to look more assured. The same
team, Rabin, Anderson, Squire, White and Kaye produced the acclaimed follow
up, 1987's Big Generator.
Last year, Yes' first four albums YES, Time and a Word, The Yes Album and
Fragile were re-released by Rhino.
These re-issued classics have been completely re-mastered and will feature
previously un-released bonus material.
Subsequent releases of the bands greatest records will be released later this year.
