Yes agrees to be visible in and around the fair
ALLENTOWN -- Organizers of The Great Allentown Fair announced Wednesday the
rock group Yes will play at the fairgrounds' grandstand Sept. 3.
Tickets go on sale at the fair box office beginning April 24.
During the band's 35 years of performing what some refer to as
"progressive" and others call "art" rock, Yes has reconfigured its musical
lineup many times. The musicians coming to the fair -- lead vocalist Jon
Anderson, bassist Chris Squire, lead guitarist Steve Howe, keyboardist Rick
Wakeman and drummer Alan White -- combine talents as a classic Yes grouping.
In its 35-year history Yes has produced 32 albums.
On this tour honoring those 35 years, a grand-scale light show and stage
set will remind fans of years past. Artist and visual collaborator Roger
Dean, who is responsible for the distinctive Yes art designs, put those
same talents to work creating the set.
Anderson and Squire met in their native Great Britain in 1968 and, with
their shared fondness for Simon & Garfunkel, The Fifth Dimension and the
Byrds, decided to form a musical group relying more on melody, lyrics and
vocal harmonies than on a dominant R& B beat.
Reserved seats are available on the track (floor seating) immediately in
front of the stage and in the grandstand that provides tiered, covered
seating.
A ticket costs $39 and includes fair admission when purchased in advance.
