YesAcoustic: Review

By Paul Rogers

The film quality, sound production and direction of the cinema broadcast is all wonderful. The performance and arrangments of the tunes are easily some of the best and most relaxed film captures of Yes in recent years, in my opinion, (YesSymphonic notwithstanding). A very stylish and "lacking any major cringe-inducing moments" YesDVD. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Wakeman's humour on the bonus "behind the scenes" section alternates between groan and guffaw as he takes every opportunity to poke fun at his bandmates and the crew as they prepare for the live broadcast. Chris and Steve get more than their fair share of Wakey's "wit".

The film trailers are also worth a look and it is pleasant to have them collected as another bonus feature.

Whilst browsing the credits, I noticed that Tim Weidner (production on "Magnification", mixing on "Fragile" DVD-A/Ultimate Yes) did the 5.1 mix. Good to see some continuity with other recent projects.

Overall... essential viewing.
