The Week in Weird (Excerpt)
By David Sprague
Aging rock stars in need of a degree of, shall we say, "male enhancement" inevitably turn to the sleek Lamborghini -- or, at the very least, a nifty
Corvette. We've gotta hand it to YES's Steve Howe, though, for flying in the face of conventional wisdom -- and, in the process, showing his lack of
need for such extenders -- by slapping a photo of his favored ride on his web site. Not only is Howe confident enough to be seen tooling around in a
1983 station wagon, he's willing to admit he's put over 225,000 miles on the thing. On the other hand, the guitarist is making all this known
because he's trying to unload the jalopy -- which features such selling points as power windows, cruise control and a history that includes being
used on the 1994 Pulling Strings tour. In addition to the standard tire-kicking, may we suggest potential buyers also check the CD player,
just to be sure a copy of Tales from Topographic Oceans isn't superglued inside....
